CANDACE J. CARTER

I’ve been writing stories since I can remember. The first ones were more like simplistic comic books, involving stick people and stick animals. Growing up in the rural Midwest, I spent a lot of time outdoors. My love of nature grew. My stories were about nature and animals. Then life got in the way, and writing fell by the wayside.

My path in life led me in many directions. Some, I realized, were not really where I wanted to be. Eventually, I chose a path that led to a position on an endangered species reintroduction project in the Colorado Plateau. Working as a conservation biologist at the National Park Service brought me back to my love and appreciation of nature. It seemed to be my true calling, and I truly enjoyed helping preserve and protect Threatened & Endangered species.

I was also inspired to pick up pen and paper again.
